Following is a partial list of deer tolerant trees.
Remember, not all plants are universally tolerant, variations in susceptibility are to be expected.

It is wise to test the susceptibility of a plant prior to installation. Leave the plant in the garden for a couple of weeks and see if "your" deer have acquired a taste for this plant.

Keep in mind too...
In a drought nothing is sacred and deer prefer young tender shoots over hard woody stems.

To round out your garden, there are many annuals, bulbs & tubers, ground covers, perennials, shrubs, and vines that can survive successfully in deer country.

In some cases a temporary “deer cage” of welded wire around the trees will protect them until they reach an inaccessible height. Wrap the tree trunks in chicken wire a few inches out from the trunk to minimize damage from bucks removing their antlers and bark browsing.
